Rosanne Beijers "Nutritional interventions in COPD: a targeted approach"

Marijn Veerman "Food drug interactions with small-molecule kinase inhibitors in pulmonary medicine"

Rosanne Beijers is assistant professor and principal investigator at the Department of Respiratory Medicine within the NUTRIM Research Institute of Nutrition and Translation Research in Metabolism at the Maastricht University. Her research focuses on metabolic phenotyping as well as nutritional and lifestyle interventions in patients with a respiratory disease, with a current emphasis on COPD and Long-COVID.

Rosanne holds a Bachelor’s degree in Health Sciences and a Master’s degree in human movement sciences. In September 2013, she started her PhD at the department of Respiratory Medicine at the Maastricht University, where she successfully defended her thesis entitled “Cardiometabolic risk modulation in normal-weight COPD” in 2018. Following her PhD, Rosanne pursued postdoctoral research focused on nutrition in COPD. During this period she obtained an ERS fellowship on Guideline Methodology for which she has joined Cochrane in Barcelona and NICE in Manchester for half a year. Since 2021, she returned to Maastricht University in her current position, where she is leading multiple clinical/intervention studies in COPD and COVID-19.

Dr. G.D.M. (Marijn) Veerman is a post-doctoral researcher in the departments of pulmonary medicine and medical oncology at the Erasmus MC Rotterdam. He received his PhD on June 21st 2023 for his thesis entitled ‘Personalising small-molecule kinase inhibitor treatment for patients with non-small cell lung cancer’, which included numerous studies on the pharmacologic individualization of targeted therapy. Marijn was awarded with the Vera Bonta prize for writing the best thesis on lung cancer of the Benelux. Currently, he is doing his residency in pulmonary medicine at the Erasmus MC and supervises two enthusiastic PhD-students.
