Mentorship breakfast-28 June 7:00-8:30

We are thrilled to invite all senior PhD students, post-docs and early career clinicians participating in the DLC to sign up for the NRS Mentorship Breakfast, organized at the Van der Valk hotel.

This networking event during the delicious breakfast offers young investigators a unique opportunity to get to know a more senior researcher who can help with specific questions related to career development. Such as (but not limited to):

·        How do I achieve specific academic goals?

·        How do I combine my clinical tasks with research?

·        What is the best timing and way to take leadership over my career?

·        How do I tackle work-life balance?

·        What is the best way to enhance networking qualities?

·        Can anyone help me with writing grants? Or networking within the field for a postdoc (abroad)?

Cost of participating in the mentorship breakfast for mentees is 20 euros for a luxury hotel buffet.

Evening Social Acitivity-Join an Escape Box Challenge! -27 June 20:00-21:00

Cost to participate is 10 euro and includes drinks (beer, wine, soft drinks).

Abstract submission guidelines

All participants who submit an abstract will qualify for one of the following prestigious prizes:

Chiesi Young Investigator Award:

Those selected for the Chiesi Young Investigator Symposium will win a 400 euro prize. The winner of the symposium will win the 3000 euro Chiesi Young Investigator Award.

The GSK SPARROW NL Award:

The winner of the GSK SPARROW award will win 2000 euro for their own education, in addition to a mentorship program with an expert of their choice, and become a member of the GSK SPARROW jury for the following year.

Participants not selected for these two competitions will compete for the NRS Poster awards and the Impact Statement Award.

Sterk Participation Award

Researchers who make patient participation an indispensable part of their research can also compete in 2024 for the Sterk Participation Award.

With this award Longfonds aims to stimulate researchers in the respiratory field to make use of the patient perspective in all phases of their research and involve patients as a partner in the research set-up. Making use of the perspective and experience of patients gives researchers valuable information, which increases the relevance and quality of the research project.

The Award comes with a prize of € 5.000. With this money the researcher can increase the involvement of patient representatives in his/her research and, from this year, can also be used for training in the field of patient participation or for publishing the research in open access journals.

Do you want to become a contender?
After submitting your abstract, fill out the entry form for competition on the Longfonds website and mail it to research@longfonds.nl (the entry form is in Dutch, but English submissions are welcome). Deadline for submitting your entry is April 5th.

The submission form can be downloaded here: Deelnameformulier Sterk Participatie Prijs 2024.docx

Participants that submit an abstract are also eligible to be considered for NRS Poster Prizes and Young Investigator Awards.

Awards and Prizes at the DLC

The prestigious Swieregna Medal Award and NRS Mid-Career Award are given out at the DLC. The call for applications and nominations for these awards are open until 21 April 2024.

The NRS Mid-Career Award is presented every 2 years to recognize outstanding achievements of established mid-career researchers in respiratory science. The award of € 10,000.- should be used for research activities and include a plan for societal outreach.
