This symposium gives the opportunity to start/broaden your network in the Netherlands, to practice presenting and to discuss data, and of course to be inspired by the seminars given by (inter)national Keynote speakers from the ‘Lung Field'. Read more about the program and how to admit an abstract (optional) below.
NRS Webinar on Innovative Approaches
The upcoming NRS Webinar will take place on 3 November 2022 12:30-13:00 with the theme Innovative Approaches. Our speakers will be Firdaus Mohamed Hoesein from UMC Utrecht and Mandy van Gulijk from the Erasmus MC.
Dutch Lung Congress 2022
Location: Crowne Plaza Hotel, Utrecht
The Dutch Lung Congress aims to facilitate updating the field about lung science, to cross fertilize science opportunities in the Netherlands, and to stimulate networking. It will provide an opportunity to bring together everyone interested in lung science: basic and translational researchers, clinical researchers, patients, carers, industry, policy makers, etc.
This year the Dutch Lung Congress will be organized as a fully live event at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Utrecht (near Utrecht Central Station). The program will be mainly plenary, with some parallel scientific sessions. The science presented by the participants from submitted abstracts will be another highlight of the meeting.
Abstract submission is now open. Deadline 4th April 2022 23.59 h. Read more about the abstract submission here.
Further details about the program, registration and your stay (optional) will follow soon here.

National Lung Course 2023
National Lung Course 2023
The NRS National course on lung diseases and lung research aims at bringing basic and applied lung research in the Netherlands at a higher level by training young talented researchers. Participants will learn both the basics and state-of-the-art developments in the areas of (patho)physiology, treatment, methodologies, diagnosis, and career development. Disease areas that will be covered include asthma, allergy, interstitial lung diseases, orphan lung diseases, infectious diseases, COVID-19, COPD and lung cancer.
The main target groups of the course are PhD candidates (or Master students who are likely to start a PhD in the respiratory field in the next year) and postdoctoral fellows early on in their trajectories - NRS membership required - with either a basic science, translational or clinical background.
It will be a 3-day course (February 8-10 2023), combined with two 1-day programs at the annual Young Investigator Symposium (YIS, December 9th 2022). The program (in English) will consist of lectures, interactive workshops with researchers, patients and fellow participants, career development activities and a social program. Study load will be 140 hours, which is comparable to 5 ECTS points. A certificate and accreditation of the 5 ECTS will be provided after completion of the 3-day course and attendance (either in the future or in the past) of one Young Investigator Symposium. However, it is possible to only attend the 3-day course, without ECTS accreditation. Admission to the course is €50,- (but NRS membership required) and 2 overnight stays in a single room, breakfasts & lunches and 2 dinners are included.
NRS Young Investigator Symposium
The YIS is organized specifically for young investigators (PhD students, post-docs) and young physicians in training doing research within the field of lung diseases in the Netherlands. This symposium gives them the opportunity to start/broaden their network in the Netherlands, to practice presenting and to discuss data, and of course to be inspired by the seminars given by (inter)national Keynote speakers from the ‘Lung Field”.
Location: Hotel Casa Amsterdam
NRS Experimental models symposium 2021

First NRS Webinar 29th April 12.30 - 14.00 h. Rare diseases: Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension
The NRS webinar committee organizes a monthly webinar that is followed by a digital NRS cafe on each last Thursday of the month (except in July). With this series we aim to inform, highlight, and promote pulmonary research from fundamental up to a translational and clinical level. We hope that, with this year’s exiting program, we can provide an interesting and educational webinar for the various backgrounds of all attendees.
We chose to address fixed themes that will be the backbone of each year’s series, in which topics per theme will change annually. This year we focused on Dutch pulmonary research, because we have so much exciting research in the Dutch respiratory field! We will kick off with the theme: rare diseases, the topic in that theme for this year is Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension (PAH) and we are excited that Prof. Marie-José Goumans (Dept. of Cell and Chemical Biology, LUMC) and Marlies Haarman (Faculty of Medical Sciences, UMCG) will present the state-of-the-art of this field and their research!
We look forward to hearing your experiences, and to talk to you in the NRS caffé, which is hosted after each webinar. Please roam around on the webinar website to find information about the schedule and speakers, and to attend the webinar and NRS caffé.
Do not miss out on the NRS webinar series, please preregister now (takes up to one minute).
