NRS National Lung Course 2026
The primary target audience of the course consists of PhD students (or Master's students likely to begin a PhD in the respiratory field within the next year) and early-stage postdoctoral fellows with backgrounds in clinical, translational, and/or basic sciences. No further restrictions on admission apply. The course aims to enhance understanding of the broader field of pulmonary research and foster networking within the national professional community.

Dr. Laura Kuijpers: Post-COVID Expertise Centers: Bridging Care, Research and Policy
Dr. Nadia Baalbaki: Long COVID: results from the P4O2 COVID-19 study
Dr. Laura Kuijpers works as an internist-infectiologist at the Leiden University Center for Infectious Diseases (LUCID) of the LUMC. She is the coordinator of the post-COVID expertise center in this hospital and she conducts research on regional implementation of transmural care for people with post-COVID, in collaboration with the department of Public Health and Primary Care (PHEG).
Dr. Nadia Baalbaki is a pharmacist and researcher interested in precision medicine approaches for post-infectious diseases. She defended her PhD thesis, “Towards precision medicine for (long) COVID: perspectives on pharmacotherapy and molecular mechanisms,” on 28 February 2025 at the University of Amsterdam. In her current postdoctoral position at the Department of Otorhinolaryngology (ENT) at Amsterdam UMC, she studies the role of the nasal epithelium in long COVID, combining molecular findings with pharmacological repurposing strategies.

On March 10 & 11, 2025, Longfonds and the Leiden University Medical Center will organize the 'Symposium on Prevention of Asthma and Allergies' at the Naturalis Biodiversity Center in Leiden. The symposium will focus entirely on an integrated approach to preventing asthma and allergies.
7th National Lung Course
The NRS National Lung Course is a 3 day course on lung diseases and lung research for those early in their careers. It will take place 12-14 February 2025 at the Hotel Heerlickheijd van Ermelo. Maximum class size: 30 people, first come basis. Registration time frame 27 June to 1 November.
