The Lung foundation Netherlands is committed to people who have permanent lung damage from corona. They want to use research to map out the long-term consequences of this virus on lung function, and to analyze solutions and the impact on daily life. They do this together with the Long Alliance Netherlands (LAN) in which more than thirty organizations are united in the field of prevention and care for people with lung diseases, including associations of lung patients, pulmonologists, general practitioners, nurses, pharmacists, paramedics, companies and the scientific organization of lung researchers (NRS).
The registration fee of the Longdagen 2020 will be refunded to those who registered. We are working on the process to organize this in the best way and will reimburse as soon as possible.
Pneumo Update Europe will organize a free live update on COVID-19 by Germany's top respiratory specialists on April 9th, 2020 at 20:00-21:30 (8-9:30 pm CET). Due to their underlying condition, patients with Asthma, COPD or allergies which target the airway are especially affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. What infection risk in general and, specifically, which targeted therapies are important for this risk group?
An American Thoracic Society-led international task force has released a guidance document to help clinicians manage COVID-19 patients in the face of a worldwide pandemic and minimal empirical evidence to guide treatment.
The NRS will be involved in the plan of the LAN and Lung Foundation Netherlands to study the long-term effects of infection with the coronavirus, and to set up a proper infrastructure for survivors.
The American Thoracic Society has decided to cancel the International Conference, originally scheduled for May 15-20, 2020 in Philadelphia.
