World No Tobacco Day

General May 2019

This year's 'World No Tobacco Day' (31 May) campaign of the WHO focuses on the harm to lung health caused by tobacco smoking.

In this video, the ERS Advocacy Council Chair Professor Jørgen Vestbo discusses the importance of tackling the tobacco epidemic and supporting smoking cessation.

ERS and the European Lung Foundation co-host a twitter live chat focused on stopping the tobacco epidemic, where participants will discuss ways in which governments, organisations and individuals can help people to quit smoking – taking place at 15:00 CEST on 28 May. Everyone is welcome to take part in asking questions and discussing using the hashtag #NoTobaccoChat

Join the WHO action 'Takes my breath away' by sending a photo or a 10 to 15-second video of yourself engaged an activity that takes you breath away, instead of tobacco. You can add a frame to your photo/video and use the awareness day hashtags. More information can be found here. You can also share the tiles or videos in the link to raise awareness.
